Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role in the company?
I am Dayana Paulino Salinas, an industrial engineer graduated from the Universidad Tecnológica del Perú — I completed the degree in four years because I took several courses in advance — and five years ago I joined ME Elecmetal, where today I am the logistics manager.
I am from Callao, where I lived until I was 30 years old with my family; my father is retired from the Peruvian Navy and my mother worked in the Administration and Logistics area for many years, that's where my passion for Logistics began. Before ME Elecmetal, I did my professional internship at an Australian company that provides Laboratory Analysis Services to mining companies, where I stayed for four years, and then I complemented my training with a specialization in Customs and Logistics Management at ADEX and a specialization in Occupational Safety and Health at UNI. What I miss most about Callao is the weather and that the best seafood restaurants are there.
In my role today, I am in charge of scheduling shipments, always ensuring that there is no stockout for our customers, seeking their operational continuity.
What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?
What attracted me most to ME Elecmetal was the growth, in Peru we are in a constant process of improvement. Added to this is the company culture, which puts people first, with a real focus on interpersonal relationships and the work environment. This is evident simply by watching us work: we are a team that is happy doing what we do, and that good relationship among us translates directly into the result, because in logistics everything works like a chain.
How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?
In Peru, we did not have the concept of work environment so developed, and we have been learning that from ME Elecmetal Chile: the priority given to the work team and to ensuring that relationships between people are good, because -ultimately- that is what ensures the entire chain functions well.
What benefits do you value most about working here?
The benefit I value most is the importance given to the person and the family. Two years ago, I became a mother, and I felt the company's support at all times: for example, they encouraged me to breastfeed. In addition, in Peru, maternity leave is 90 days — 45 before and 45 after delivery — and I was able to take my full 90 days, plus my vacation. Feeling that support makes one even more committed to the company.

Personal anecdotes about teamwork, achievements, or company events
In my five years at ME Elecmetal, one of the most challenging episodes has been dealing with strikes by communities that set up at the entrance of our clients operations. In 2022, for example, one of these strikes lasted 60 days and the trucks could not pass; we had to find a way to send and remove the cargo in vans. These situations occur practically every year, and they force us to always be prepared with an alternative plan for a possible contingency, thus mitigating the risk involved.
How does your team help solve challenges in the mining industry?
We contribute by scheduling shipments so that the client has no complaints and the operation does not stop. We maintain a fluid relationship with the client: we coordinate meetings, calls to review our stock levels, and we always prepare the dispatch plan in advance. We have also incorporated communication means that allow us to know in real-time the location of the trucks, in addition, ME Elecmetal implemented ME tracking, a tool that greatly facilitates transparency in shipments and the quality certificates that clients require, which integrates training and improvements in this tool.
What excites you most about the future of ME Elecmetal?
I am excited that ME Elecmetal continues to grow, that the operation in Peru consolidates and that we continue to add an increasingly larger team. Thinking about my own future, I imagine myself as Logistics Manager in Peru: I like the challenge of solving situations, something constant in a world that deals with climate issues, communities, political issues, etc., and where it is not always easy to reach agreements, so you always have to have a plan A, a plan B, and a plan C. Something I value about ME Elecmetal is that they even train you to keep growing within the company.
